Founded in 2007 by guitarist and songwriter, Elviz Christ, Saint Avarice has evolved into a six piece metal band from Northern, NJ, USA.  The band credits its influences to the likes of thrash and speed metal giants, Slayer, power groove specialists, Lamb of God, the melodic metal institution of Killswitch Engage, and the brutality of death metal legends, Cannibal Corpse. The impact and impression of the aforementioned can be felt all throughout Saint Avarice's musical style.

After writing about 30 songs Elviz Christ sought additional band members to fill the vacancies.  In October of 2008 Johnny Death answered the call to one of many classified ads.  John and Elviz revised, re-wrote, and cut multiple songs into what was to become “The Disease You Breed”.  In April of 2009 Dr. Jklr took the vocal position with some big shoes to fill – and that he did quite well.  A few bassists and drummers later, the band recruited its former Tech Support Specialist, Tom Cooke, as bassist and Deema Aitken as drummer.

August 2, 2010 marked the release of "Malice to Alice", a three song single in support of their full-length, "The Disease You Breed", which was released on 11/01/10.  The debut album features 10 searing tracks; soulful brutality seething with aggression that's sure to please metal-heads far and wide.

Responses to the album include:

"There's something about Saint Avarice that is very reminiscing to that thrash period... It's got elements of allot of the shit we love. ...this element of thrash music with a soul. ...metal with a soul. ...which is why it sets it apart."

- Laz Pina of Ill Nino.

"I'd describe [Saint Avarice] as American Metal. I think Modern American Metal has heaviness, groove, and intensity. They have a certain technical ability that they strive for and it's present in the music. I was impressed."

- Doc Coyle of God Forbid.

This American Metal exhibition hasn't been without its challenges.  Multiple lineup changes have taken place over the years but, none was more difficult than the summer of 2011 when the band nearly fell apart.  Dr. Jklr and Johnny Death parted ways with the band.

Saint Avarice was reduced to Elviz Christ (guitars), Tom Cooke (bass), and Deema Aitken (drums).  By fall the band had recruited Aaron Cloutier of Davola to fill the vocal position.  Darren Mitchell was recommended by Deema and auditioned as a permanent replacement for Johnny Death.  However, things did not pan out that way.  Johnny Death was signed on to perform two live shows with the band in December of 2011 since Darren was recruited too close to the show dates.  In the end, it was decided to keep both John and Darren to create a six piece band with three guitar players - a long time vision of Elviz Christ.

With Johnny Death rejoining Saint Avarice, Tom Cooke decided to part ways with the band.  Tom did fulfill and honor his commitment to the remaining shows of 2011.  When the band received word that Tom was departing, Brain Reaper was brought on board as bassist.

Currently, Saint Avarice are working on a new album to be released in 2012.  It's expected that there will be some musical changes with new writers coming on board.  "The Disease You Breed" was written musically almost entirely by Elviz Christ and for the new album, the band is looking forward to a new approach to writing.  Fans should expect many similar elements to be present as Elviz Christ will still be using his signature style for writing.  In addition, there will be many new musical elements introduced with Aaron Cloutier, Brian Reaper, Deema Aitken, and Darren Mitchell bringing their writing talents on board.

After all the growing pains this band has endured, Saint Avarice are unbreakable and still prove to be purveyors of metal for the modern day.  This is a band that is built to last and remain of the best of the best because Saint Avarice will have it no other way!
